Tea for You!

by Lorraine Bartlett / Lorna Barrett / L.L. Bartlett

“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one.”
– George R.R. Martin, Games of Thrones

You could turn the above quote around to have it apply to writers, too. How many characters have I written in the past (mumble, mumble) years? Thousands.

Maybe writers are just frustrated actors, too. We get to play all the parts in our heads.

One of the parts I like to play is owner of a tea room, just like my character Katie Bonner. I don't have any more time on my hands than I did before the pandemic, but for some reason I've done a lot more baking. I've made bread, banana bread, zucchini bread, stewed rhubarb and custard, rhubarb cake, snickerdoodles, and walnut cake just to name a few. Some have been extremely successful, and some have been duds, but I had fun doing all of that.

Imagine being able to bake everyday and everything came out perfect!

That's what happens at the Tealicious tea shop on Victoria Square. Every day, Katie and her chef/manager, Brad Andrews, turn out cookies, scones, pastries, and cakes for their customers.

You can imagine you're a baker, too, with Gayle Leeson's and my cookbooklet, TEA FOR YOU and it's FREE!

We hope you enjoy this complimentary cookbooklet based on the Victoria Square Mysteries and the Life On Victoria Square companion series. They feature Katie Bonner, owner of Victoria Square’s anchor, Artisans Alley, and the Square’s tea shop, Tealicious. She is also the president of the Victoria Square Merchants Association.

These are some of the recipes Katie and Telicious’s chef/manager, Brad Andrews, prepare for their customers. We hope you enjoy them, too.
