Ellery's Bayside Book Writers Contest

Hosted By Ellery Adams

It's the first of the month! Time for me to host another contest! And because this month marks the release of my 7th Books By the Bay mystery, Writing All Wrongs, this contest will focus on the characters in my fictional town of Oyster Bay, North Carolina.

The contest is super easy: All you have to do is tell me who your favorite Books By the Bay character is and why. You can also tell me what your hope for this character's future is. You never know, I might put some of your ideas into action when I start writing the next book in 2016.

I'll draw a random name from the comments and post that person's name on this page and on Facebook by 10 p.m. on November 2nd. The winner will receive this charming lighthouse teapot!

This is also the perfect opportunity for me to remind you how important preorders are to the survival of your favorite authors. If you love Olivia and the rest of the Bayside Book Writers and you'd like their stories to continue, the best way to ensure that happening is to preorder. As always, I am grateful for your loyalty and your support. Cozy readers are the best!

Here's what you can anticipate in the pages of Writing All Wrongs:

Yes I certainly plan on getting a copy of this book and I'd love to add that lighthouse decorated Tea Pot for our collection.

I like all of your main characters so this was really hard. I can't just pick one so will say I'm especially fond of Captain Haviland (who first lets you know that Olivia is more than just a unsentimental business person), Dixie (she is feisty and [despite being from the wrong composer] "does it her way"), and Millay (again feisty and able to hold her own against a bar full of pretty rough customers). I'm sorry but I usually don't preorder because I get into Barnes & Noble sometime in the week after many mysteries are published and buy a bunch. Just realized this morning that I had missed one from Hannah Reed (Deb Baker) several months ago. Not sure why. And I love the teapot. Don't drink tea but have several on display. This is one of my favorite series, and I have already pre-ordered my copy. It's one of the only times I hurry to the mailbox - which I will be doing on Tuesday. I think my favorite character is Olivia. I love how her character has developed and grown over the course of the series. She is no longer alone and keeping people at a distance. She had learned to let people into her life and has seen her life become richer for that choice. My hope is that we continue to see these stories. I am looking forward to seeing how she and the Chief settle into marriage and also what happens to the others in the group. Thank you for the chance to win such a lovely tea pot. I collect them so this would be a special edition to my collection. Mostly, thank you for the hours of enjoyment from this series as well as the Book Retreat Mysteries.

Writing All Wrongs is next on my list to read, and Books by the Bay is a favorite series. I do hope it will continue. I really love Haviland because I find dogs are often better than people. Initially he provided the readers' first glimmer that there was more to Olivia than met the eye. I do like Olivia a lot. She is complex and continues to evolve. I look forward to seeing how her life changes since she married. Thank you for the chance to win the teapot. I collect them and drink at least one pot of tea daily. More importantly, thank you for providing hours of reading pleasure with each book. dmskrug3(at)hotmail(dot)com.

it should pop up in my Kindle tomorrow morning.
I really can't tell you which book I like the most. Olivia is my favorite. As each book comes out, I love it the best until the next one. it should be interesting to see what happens now that she is Married. I love that tea pot and lighthouses.

Olivia is my favorite (although I enjoy all the characters). She is the kind of person I'd want for a friend...fiercely loyal, to her friends, and always there for them. I feel she is the "glue" that holds everyone together. Plus, I love her attachment to Haviland.

Love the music quotes.
I hate picking favorites, but I will go with Olivia and Captain Haviland.

Olivia is by far, my favorite. Why not have an old friend-enemy move into town and start putting her moves on the Captain. She is later found dead and the Captain, not Olivia is accused of her murder.

Of course it has been pre-ordered, months ago! I do love Olivia, but I will choose Captain Havilland. Perhaps there is a she-poodle in his future?
