TIME TO PUT YOUR JAMMIES ON!

By Kate Collins

Isn’t that the best statement ever? Well, besides, “Here’s a chocolate brownie smothered in thick dark chocolate sauce for you.”

Annnnywaaaay, when I come home from an evening out, I can’t wait to snuggle into a pair of comfortable PJs, especially on a cold winter evening.

Recently I noticed that my favorite winter pair was wearing thin, so I decided to treat myself to two nice new sets. And that began the “Great Pajama Hunt.” That lasted until I gave up trying to get to department stores in bad weather only to find  spring merchandise out -- and good luck seeing something on the clearance rack that looks pretty AND is the right size.

So I turned to the Internet. Lo and Behold I found all the winter pajamas a jammy-holic could ever want. Then it was time to get specific with my must haves:
A.     Something pretty that would also feel good on.

B.     Something cuddly soft and warm.

I started with the search words “soft flannel” and then added in “bamboo” because I love my bamboo cotton flannel sheets so much  that I use them year around.  I found a pretty pair of flannel pajamas that did not have bamboo in them but the reviews kept describing them as: soft and thick, best PJs ever, love them, will never buy any other kind, etc.  So I ordered them and you can see the photo here. They’re white with turquoise birds and they’re very pretty. Also very warm. Actually, a bit too warm under my big comforter. Have I mentioned that I love burying under a comforter at night? Also not as cuddle soft as I’d hoped. A tad stiff and somewhat boxy, in fact.

So I went back to the search engine and started with “bamboo cotton flannel” but it didn’t turn up anything I liked. The closest I could find, bamboo viscose, that also had great reviews weren’t in the normal PJ colors.  They were jewel-toned, which doesn’t make me think of sleep. Nevertheless, I ordered this pair in burgundy because I liked the style and it was the least objectionable color.

Between the pretty white with turquoise and the burgundy, I had a winner! The burgundy bamboo PJs are so comfy and so stylish, I want to wear them for lounging as well as sleeping. And they keep me warm but not too warm. Oddly, I feel happy in them. And don’t we all want to be happy?

Do you have favorite pajamas? Are you choosy about your PJs, too?

Sleep happy, friends.

P.S. My big COVER REVEAL is on my Facebook page today. I’m showing off my November mystery, FLORIST GRUMP. I LOVE it! Look what Abby's eating!

Yep. Very choosy, and they especially have to be petite in length. I like my DKNY p.j.'s because they are comfy and soft. Love Karen Neuburger p.j.'s, too! She always has stylish and comfortable sets in a variety of patterns and fun colors. Combine those with a pair of her lounge socks and a good mystery, and you're all set for a cozy night!

I'm not real big on P.J.'s, but I love sleeping pants and a really big t-shirts when I'm relaxing. I'm not big on what they look like, as long as there comfortable, I will wear them.

Yes, PJs are very important! You can tell my favorites by how worn they are.
Btw, great cover!

I'll have to check out those brands. I'm in between petite and regular so I always have long pj bottoms.

Comfort is the main thing!

Very cute, Kate! You did well, shopping on the Internet. Not always easy.

No p.j.s for me although I really like your burgundy set. In the summer it's a men's 100% cotton T-shirt about 2 sizes too large and in the winter it's a bright blue microfiber long sleeved top (not sure if it was supposed to go with separate lounge or p.j. pants) since I read in bed and don't like getting cold arms. Unless I'm sick or it's super cold, I don't wear anything on my legs or even bed socks because I sleep so hot and I usually have a cat on my ankles/feet.

I love jammies and I think the burgundy pair looks terrific! When a favorite pair gives up the ghost, it takes time to find the right replacement. I want to find them on sale too, just makes it that much harder.

Hugs.

With a cat on your feet, I can understand the need for no bottoms. LOL

I shop at Carson Pirie Scott for my p.j.'s. Great selection! Sometimes I purchase capri length in regular sizes because the length just fits my petite height. Looking forward to "Florist Grump"!!! I am just finishing Root Awakening and excited to see what Abby gets herself into next.

I have never seen a pair as pretty as your burgundy set! I would love that one myself. It is almost too pretty to sleep in.

Amen Sister! There is nothing better than coming home and slipping into comfy PJs, any time of the year. Even when we are on vacation, coming back to the hotel and changing into PJs is my favorite part of the day. Don't get me wrong I love being out and about and busy, but coming home feels so good.
My two favorite night clothing companies---Miss Elaine and Eileen West. Both companies make very comfy PJs but they are also very pretty. Both companies have lovely websites, but only Eileen West allows you to order direct. Both companies are so timeless.

There's nothing better than relaxing at home in pjs! I actually have pjs AND loungewear. To sleep, I need either a nightgown/sleepshirt or pj shorts I can't sleep in long pants-they ride up in the night and annoy me. However, to lounge about the house I love my fleece lounge pants and top. My top can't be button down (I'm too buxom). I also enjoy a cozy robe. And yes, I'm writing this in loungewear-1960 styled light blue pants with white trees and red reindeer and plain blue matching fleece top and burgundy fleece robe!

And they are so comfy I don't want to take them off, Aurian. You can find them on Amazon under bamboo viscose pajamas.

I will absolutely check them out, Margaret. I'm always looking for comfy pjs. Thanks.

I can picture you, Katreader. Good description.

Love my flannel lounge pants, grey with polar bears. Also big sherpa fleece comforter. I like to crawl into my recliner, next to a fire, with a book and a glass of juice, wrap myself in my blanket, and generally doze off before reading much.

Those burgundy pajamas make you happy because of the color. Maybe you should get a couple more jewel toned ones to just sit around the house in.

Love fleece pants but not to sleep in. I get hot so much when I sleep that I can't do pants, just a top. But when I'm up....definitely fleece pants or heavy flannel PJ bottoms.
