Who doesn't love a wedding?

by Lorraine Bartlett / Lorna Barrett / L.L. Bartlett

The Cozy Chicks often talk among ourselves, and yesterday the subject came up about weddings.  Wow -- it turns out we're kind of fascinated by them. A bunch of us have written about them in our books, too.

Of course, all of us have been married at one time or another.

This picture is from MY wedding.  At left, our best man Danny, my maid of honor Anne, my dad, me, and Mr. L.  (Honestly, Mr. L and I are the same height, but that day I wore heels -- and probably for the last time, too.)  Um...we kind of have a tradition in my family of wearing crazy nose-and-glasses for special occasions.  (Doesn't everyone?)

And so for the next few days the Chicks going to talk about weddings ... mostly on social medial.  So look for us on Facebook, Google+, Pinterest, Twitter, and Tumblr.

First up is ... me! (Hey, I'm introducing this conversation, right?)

Look forward to some wedding fun with Ellery's upcoming Books By The Bay Mystery, Lethal Letters, too (with contests)!

And please, we'd love to hear about YOUR wedding.  Leave a comment, and please -- have a piece of this virtual cake!

I want to meet your family! And I want to go to the next family "special occasion"...please! You must all be THE most fun people in the world who obviously have very secure egos and know how to play even though you are all grown up! What was the rest of your wedding like, I dare ask? Was there dancing and toasts? Thank you for sharing this.
I already love your writing and now I can see the creative and fun loving personality behind it. You go, girl!!!

The day before our wedding, the bride to be told me that when the minister asked "do you take" that she wanted the whole church to hear my answer, which they did. But I believe that only the first row might have heard her response. Then later at the cake cutting, I politely provided her with a dainty bite sized piece and in return she provided a piece that was hardly bite sized, maybe three bites.

I've only been to one wedding, my brother's, and I was in it. Miserable day. I felt like a cow stuff into my jr. bridesmaid dress. And I had a major crush on the jr. usher. Kept waiting for him to ask me to dance and he only did when his sister told him to. I turned him down. I do love watching shows like Say Yes To The Dress and I Found The Gown. Some of the gowns are stunning!

Well...some of us are fun. (LOL!) For a while there, all the pictures we too, were of us wearing nose and glasses. I've still got about 20 pairs somewhere ... must dig them out again. The rest of the wedding? HOT! it was 102 degrees and most of the guests fled because there was no AC and the caterer REFUSED to open the windows. Sure were a lot of gin and tonics consumed that day.

It took me a year, but I almost single-handedly ate our wedding cake (which we froze in HUGE Tupperware containers. It was de-lish!

I'm still fascinated by weddings, although I've probably only been to five or six of them. I love the pageantry. I love looking at dresses and, of course, the most important thing: THE CAKE.
