Something Wicked This Way Comes (?)

by Deb Baker/Hannah Reed

It started happening after dark, here on nine isolated, wooded acres. The first clue that something large roamed - long, deep scratch marks in the wood deck. Like something powerful had tried to rip through it, perhaps preying on a smaller animal.

The next night one of my garden sneakers was missing from the porch. I looked everywhere. It's gone.

So is the other one now.
What the heck is going on? Gulp!

I bet a raccoon is paying you a visit...and playing dress up!

Lol if you were writing paranormals, Id say some kind of shifter. And I really hope there are no bears where you live.

How about a fox?

No bears, but I've seen a fox recently. I'm hoping for the raccoon, but scratch marks...??

Deb, I live in the country and we've had nightly visits lately by several critters, having parties in the wee hours around my house... but the worst seems to be the racoons! Maybe that's what's bothering your home too!

PS~ I love following you on Pinterest, almost as much as reading your books! I'm Lola Falana-Vaughan there, in case you didn't guess! ;)

Oh, and raccoons leave
scratches while climbing the wooden
posts on our deck! They make it all the way up to our roof at times. Very aggravating!

I remember watching this feature on Animal Planet where a cst was stealing clothing, sneakers and all kinds of things from the area and bringing it home. LOL So maybe you simply have a Klepto cat!

Lola! I love following you, too! Isn't Pinterest fun!
Brenda, I sure hope its a HOUSE cat.

Raccoons give me the creeps. When we lived in the city, they would raid our garbage and hiss at us when we tried to drive them away.
