Out of the Office

As I write this, it’s Wednesday afternoon, and I’m getting ready to leave tomorrow morning for the Malice Domestic conference.

Six of the seven Cozy Chicks, and both honorary Cozy Chicks (Dru Ann and Lucy), will be at Malice (we’re going to miss seeing Deb this year!). We’ll have to see about getting a group picture if we can.

Malice is such a great conference for readers and writers. I try to remember not to act all fan-girly when I meet an author I admire, but most of the time I just can’t control it. Authors, to me, are like rock stars. And I’m a groupie. Elizabeth Peters will be at Malice this weekend—not sure I’ll be able to control myself if I run into her. Just warning everyone now.

Anyhow, I’m not sure if I’ll have internet service at the hotel—it entirely depends on whether I want to pay an arm and a leg. We’ll see how desperate I get. So technically, I’m out of the office until Monday.

I hope everyone has a great weekend, and check my Facebook page for pictures (hopefully I’ll get post them while I’m there, but it’s all dependent on that arm and a leg thing) of all goings-on.

Until then, tell me which author you’d love to meet in person, and I’ll randomly choose a winner from the comment section to send someone a gift from Malice...

Elizabeth Peters?!?!?! I'd kill to meet her (could that be a future plot?)lol. I'm thankful that I've had the pleasure of meeting several authors and I hope to add all the cozy chicks to my list-I've met one in person so far!

I want to meet every author I read and have not met yet.

Ooo that is a trick question, I cannot possibly choose between you all. So, I'll choose the first cozy mystery author I ever read (and still read and love): Susan Wittig Albert. No idea if she is even going though.

Enjoy your time with all those great authors and fans, and don't worry about the office!

I am looking forward to meeting all you Cozy Chicks this weekend as I am at Malice right now (Woo Hoo). I finally met my all time favorite author at Bouchercon last fall, Robert Crais, I still smile when I remember it.

I would like to meet all of you and I'd also love to be at Malice. Failing that I'm happy to at least have an entry in your contest. I'd like to meet Maggie Sefton. I love her crafty books.

Since I have only met one author I would be thrilled to meet any of the CozyChicks, Maggie Sefton, or any one of a dozen or so more.

I read only Cozies so there are many I would love to meet.

Oh Heather - If I was at the conference, I'd want to sit and hang with you. I've read all your books - I've told you that before and since we live across the state from each other - I figured we have lots to laugh about. Enjoy your time and send lots of pictures!
Best,
Pam

Janet Evanovich got me started on my love love love of mysteries. She is also a fellow red head and I would love to meet her. Kate Collins got me started with my love of the cozies and she is an inspiration with everything she has gone through and still continues to write amazing books. I would love to meet her and tell her how much her books have gotten me through. I would also love to meet each of the writers of Cozy Chicks because I try and read the blog as often as possible and its the bright spot of many of my mornings at work! Hope you all have a great conference!

That's a tough one because I'd just die to meet anyone. I live in Kansas and since no one really comes here to do book signings so the chances of me meeting someone are slim. But, if I could I'd want to meet you of course & Kate Collins.

Have a wonderful trip & take lot's of pictures to share.

Maggie Sefton "introduced" me to cozies, and then lead me to the Cozy Chicks. Since then, I have found many fav's here, but wouldn't want to hurt feelings by choosing just one or two. I'd love to meet all of you, and Ms. Peters is high on my list too!

Have a great time, I keep hoping some year to make it to Malice. What fun!

I couldn't pick just one. I have a handful of favorites-- maybe 10-12-- yourself included- that I would die to meet. I mean DIE! I say this because I remember the first time I got an autograph from one-- which happened to be you-- and I literally felt like I had won the lottery. I also remember the first time one conversed back and forth with me via private message-- Jessica Park-- or the first time one responded to a post of mine by asking for my address to send me a book after I had a rough day-- Leanne Banks. Every single time, I've been blown away that a person I respect so much would take time to reach out to little ol' me. Each act of kindness made the reading experience that much more amazing. But if I met one in person, it would be beyond words. I remember taking my boys to meet Mike Huckabee and have him sign his children's book for them, and that was mind blowing enough to be in the presence of someone so big-- and he isn't even a favorite of mine :) Yep... I'd die, I tell ya'! D-I-E!

I've been reading mysteries since I was a little girl reading Nancy Drew books. Haven't read a mystery yet that I wouldn't want to meet the author.

Agatha Christie. No she's not on the list. Decisions, decision. It's a toss up.

It would be so fun to meet all the Cozy Chicks, of course! It feels like I know some of you already,so to meet in person would be a blast. Totally jealous of those that will be there this weekend. Hope you all have a great weekend!

This is a really difficult decision. Your books are wonderful, and of course I would love to meet you. Lest you think I am just saying that because I couldn't think of anyone else, I will also say I would be thrilled to meet Camille Minichino. She was the first author I ever contacted, and she has graciously answered every email I have sent.

I would love to meet every cozy author that I've read. Tough choice, since I enjoy all of the Cozy Chicks books, but I'll say Kate Collins since it was the Flower Shop series that got me hooked on cozy mysteries.
