They Know Me So Well

by Heather Blake / Heather Webber

As some of you know, my birthday was earlier this week. As I get older, my b-days don’t bother me near as much as my kids’ birthdays. The upside to getting melancholy on their days is that I really enjoy mine. I love cake and cards and hearing from friends. And I love seeing what presents my family picked out for me.

My absolutely favorite thing to get from my kids is their handmade cards. I kind of hope that even when they’re older, and have families of their own, that they still make my cards (I can dream, right?).

This year I was lucky enough to receive a few nice gifts from my family, but one really stands out—and shows just how well they know me.

I got this:

Seasons 1 & 2 of Quincy M.E.! And if you don’t already know why this is so meaningful to me (because I tell the story often enough) you can read all about it here: http://www.thelittleblogofmurder.com/2006/03/06/calling-jack-klugman/

I can’t wait to start watching these old episodes—and getting my kids hooked on Quincy, too. Maybe one day it’ll be a reference in one of their cards...

So tell me, what’s the DVD set you’d like to receive as a gift?

Lovely when you get something you'd really like to have. I would still love a full dvd box of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It really fired my love of paranormal romance books.

By far I would love to get the entire I Love Lucy set of dvd's. I get up early every weekend to see what that crazy red head is going to do....even though I know almost every episode by heart. My daughters make fun of me because it is sooooo old and in black and white, but after all I(do) Love Lucy!!! I enjoy Quincy to though ;)

Aurian, can you believe I've never seen Buffy? I think I need to give it a try one of these days!

Sue, LOL--Lucy is so fun. Love seeing the reruns on TV.

I'd love either Rosemary and Thyme or The Golden Girls. Even though I'm only 35 I LOVE learning about older people. Guess I see my future in their antics. ; }
Happy birthday!

Sonia, thank you! And those are both hysterical shows! I laugh every time I watch.

I'm a NCIS fanatic!! I'm counting down the days to the start of the new season. I'd love to get the complete series of NCIS. Oh and Happy Belated Birthday! I knew it was sometime in August, I just couldn't remember when.

I think if I had to pick a DVD set from back in the day, it would be the Rockford Files or Magnum P.I..

Right now I'm hooked on Burn Notice. :-)

Today may be a good day to bust out the DVD's and enjoy the AC a little. Very hot and humid.

Have a great holiday weekend!

The West Wing and the Dean Martin ones advertised on the TV info-mercials. Those would be a nice start....

I loved Quincy! Never missed it!

As for "must-have" DVD's...mine is Barney Miller. IMHO one of the best sitcoms ever.

I have all the seasons of both Magnum PI and the Gilmore Girls, guess I would like the West Wing and White Collar.
