I’ll admit it. I’m a Dancing with the Stars junkie. I simply can’t get enough. It doesn’t even bother me anymore that the lineup of “stars” are many people I’ve never heard of. To me, it’s about watching the transformations from a state of two-left-footedness (and I don’t care if that’s not a real word; it works for me) to a skillful, or at least semi-skillful, dancer.
I’m not too fond of the formulaic aspect – one young Olympic gold medalist or comparable athlete, one or two super sports stars, two or three actors, and a senior citizen – because the competition seems too predictable. Yet I’ve been surprised, and in one case, appalled. If you’re a fan, you know who I mean.
The hiatus between seasons is pure misery for me. Of course, this is aided in large part by the abysmally horrid shows on television this year. I mean, seriously, besides Castle, 30 Rock, reruns of Everybody Loves Raymond, Masterpiece Theater, and just about anything on HGTV, what is there to watch?
So it is with great anticipation that I look forward to tomorrow nig

I can’t wait for this train to leave the station. Anyone on board with me?

It's going to be an interesting season without Derek. He is far away the best choreographer of the group. Counting down the hours...20 hours before the 1st dancer hits the floor. Let the dancing begin!
Oh, Kate---We've finally got some good dramas & action adventure shows this season. Detroit 1-8-7 has excellent character portrayals with the most fascinating characters w/backstories and stories that go deeper than most tv series. And for those of us who like sci fi/fantasy there's Fringe (by director of LOST), V, & The Event. And then, there's also the ever-fascintating heroine Nikita.
I never got into DWTS, but I can't live without my Glee fix!
Another fan waiting at the station. I think this is going to be a good season.I love Wendy Williams and think she is going to put on a good show.
DWTS isn't one of my favorites, but if I did pick one star--Ralph Machio!! I'm a huge fan of Big Brother and that is pure misery for me between seasons. Have fun!
This is probably the only reality show that I watch from start to finish.
Wait, what happened to Derek?
That's what I want to know, too, Dru. Derek isn't going to be on the show? Tell me it ain't so! I will miss his cute little face.
I couldn't get into Fringe or V, or even Glee. I've never tried Femme Nikita. I'll have to check it out.
I love this show, watched it since the beginning and have never missed a single episode! Like you, it's more about seeing improvement than who the stars are. And for me, the real stars are the professional dancers. So You Think You Can Dance is my other favorite.
I'm with you! Sometimes this show aggravates me to no end but it is always entertaining. I do feel sorry for the professional dancer who draws the short straw and gets the geezer as a partner. They should have just put roller skates on Buzz Aldrin and Chloris Leachman to let the dancer push them around the floor more easily.
I suppose this year, Kirstie Alley will be the large, older dancer. I haven't looked at the whole lineup, but will probably watch tonight. I sometimes lose interest, with all the drama of practice and "hollywood people". But I like to watch the dancing, to see how they improve. As for the other shows on tv? I can't pay attention long enough to get into any of them. Don't like the vampire and cape waving stuff, I'm silly that way. I'd rather be reading or listening to one of you authors' books. Karen
I've never watched it but will tonight. I really like Kirstie Alley and Ralph Macchio and dislike Wendy Williams so I'll give it a try.
Masterpiece Mystery and Murdoch Mystery are both on tomorrow night, I reaaaallly missed Masterpiece this last month.
Don't watch reality shows - I would rather read!!!!
I think Derek is just taking a break, either for a vacation or because he has another committment of some kind. Not too impressed with this season's lineup, but would have to go for Ralph Macchio or Sugar Ray Leonard.
Good shows this year for me: always, always NCIS (gotta love Mark Harmon!) and NCIS: LA, all three of the CSIs, The Mentalist, Castle, Criminal Minds, the Hawaii 5-0 remake (they're doing a really good job with it, that's a happy surprise), Bones, and Blue Bloods (also gotta love Tom Selleck!). The Defenders (w/James Belushi and Jerry O'Connell) is ok, but not a favorite of mine, even though I love the actors. The new Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior is ok, too, but I don't think it's as good as the original.
Most of the reality shows I just don't bother with (although Celebrity Apprentice can be interesting!)
And I am one of those people who watches TV and reads during the commercials, so I get the best of both worlds!
Nope, not something I watch. In Holland we have Dancing with the Stars, Stars dancing on the Ice (witm members of Holiday on Ice as their skating partners), Singing with the stars and whatsnot. I had to watch while at my parents house lately, and I didn't know any of the stars!
Wait! Derek's out? If that's true, I'm back in. Derek may be a good choreographer, BUT, he is so full of himself you can barely get a glimps of his partner(s).
I've never gotten into dwts, but if you love both 30 Rock and Everybody Loves Raymond you should check out The Middle. That show always makes me laugh to the point that I've been known to save the best ones on my dvr to watch when I'm feeling down. It is a really fun show.
Sorry, I've never gotten into DWTS. I'm a huge Castle and Bones fan. Tell the truth, who is not into Booth? (Yes, I admit I watched Angel, too.)

To be honest, I have never gotten into Dancing with the Stars, or hardly any TV series at all now. Its not a bad show. I have watched an episode or two, but I am out of the habit of being faithfully at the TV set at certain hours and days, and, no, I can't afford the TIVO-esque service my cable provider has available.
Very few shows have thrilled me enugh to try. I just can't seem to get as enthused about the current Doctor Who and they won't bring back Dresden Files
I will watch Antiques Roadshow if its on :)
Maybe I'm spoiled by books. They wait for me ;)
Have fun with the show, Kate. DWTS is one of the few reality shows I don't watch but I might tune in this season...
OMG did you see Maks' butt tonight??? Drool.
Along with Castle, there is Harry's Law, Army Wives and Justified. And HGTV.
Holy heck, have you seen Timothy Olaphant in a pair of jeans???
And I'm not even talking about his butt!
I'm in--I love DWTS--I really miss Julianne-thought she was amazing. I always think, 'this season isn't going to be any good.' But then it is!!
Lots of potential tonight and Kirstie was a huge surprise!!
Love Hines!!
