In Honor Of...

Fellow Cozy Chick and dear friend Kate Collins has a new book out on Thursday, October 5th.

It's called Dirty Rotten Tendrils and I can guarantee it will be as fabulous as the rest of the entries in her Flower Shop Mysteries.

Why am I blogging about her book? Because she's facing a great personal loss and cannot handle promotion right now.

To honor her, a talented writer and a wonderful woman, I'm asking you not only to buy one copy of this book, but to buy a second copy to donate to your library or give to someone you care about.

Consider this purchase in honor of Kate's dear husband. Consider these purchases a way of supporting Kate during her darkest hour. Lastly, if you'd like to send her a condolence card, I'd be happy to collect them and send them to her in a scrapbook.

(Cozy Chicks, 5 Ramsbury Ct, Richmond, VA 23238)

Thank you, friends.

I saw the post on her Facebook site. My heart aches for her and I have thought about her a lot tonight. I will buy her new book and more copies other than the one just for me.

What a horrible confluence of events. I will keep her in my thoughts as well. I love the idea that buying a book can help in some small way. I'm happy to do that and encourage my friends to do the same.

The book was great! You definitely need to buy it.

In honor to help support Kate and get the word out about Dirty Rotten Tendrils I'm giving away 5 copies on my blog. Buy a copy for yourself and enter to win a second copy from me :)

My deepest sympathies for Kate Collins. I was just reading the local Valparaiso newspaper and saw the article about her husband. I used to see him years ago at a coffee shop that I worked out. Didn't really know him, but when I heard that his wife was writing a new mystery series (the beginning of flower shop seies) I bought the first book. I really enjoyed reading the book, so I have bought every one since.
Just so sorry about Kate's loss.

Krista, as you haven't read any of the books, why not give the first book in the series a try. If you like it, you might want to try them all. The first book in the Flower Shop Mysteries is MUM'S THE WORD. (And if you feel inspired to buy a second book, the next in the series is SLAY IT WITH FLOWERS.)

Oh, how sad! Already had the book on my "buy" list. Will be sure to spread the word.

The whole series is absolutely wonderful and all are still available. If you haven't read the series, you will love it.

Keep her in your prayers too, she needs to feel all the strength we can send her and her family at this time.

This just broke my heart when I read about Kate and her dear husband yesterday. I already had her book pre-ordered. I just went and added one for every library location we have. It seems like such a small thing to do.

Another thought I just had....as we are all getting the books, lets help Kate out with some more promotion! Once everyone is through reading, please post a book review on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, etc. That way we can get the word across to many, many more readers.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Kate and her family as this sad time like i said on KillerCharacters I got 2 books and getting 2 more after hubbies pay day and give them out to friends. I will be sure to post on Amazon, B & N etc and post on my blog, FB and twitter to get the word out. It is nice to see everyone come together in times like these. I have not lost a husband but I have a child and it is not easy to go through this alone she is so blessed to have all of you.

I am incredibly encouraged to see such love and support from a group whose commonality is love of a genre. I can't imagine how this would occur within another group of fans, in such a kind and personal way. As we who are lovers of "cozies" I am thrilled to realize our collective response is to offer Kate a cozy place to grieve and to face this new "forced upon" her life. As a woman who lost her husband suddenly at 34 I know how her heart hurts right now and how shocked she will continue to feel.

I have ordered five copies and will inscribe and donate them to the local libraries in our area.

Thanks Ellery, for allowing us to support Kate.
