Cute Sayings

I love to hang out in novelty shops (Door County, Wisconsin, where I visit often, has tons of them) and read all the little sayings on shirts, cups, wall hangings....

They are so clever. And true.
No one is ever credited, so I wonder who makes them up??

I put one of my new favorites on Hannah Reed's (that's me) facebook page and couldn't believe the number of friends who responded. Here it is:

"Cats are  like potato chips, you can't have just one."

Here's another that made me stop and think:

"Yesterday is history, tomorrow is mystery, today is a gift, that's why we call it the present."

How about you? What cute/clever/inspirational sayings make your day?

A bit of inspiration stuck up on my "writing wall": In the long run the pessimist may be proved correct but the optomist has a better time on the trip.

And - Today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.

It may not be very nice but I have a mug that says

"Dear Lord, If you can't make me skinny please make my friends fat"

I think it is funny! :)

One of my all time favorites, especially when people are really getting to me is:

Put on your big girl panties and deal with it.

It's a quote from the movie inheritance but I love it so much.

"A face can change over a lifetime but the heart can stay true forever."

I have a poster beside my desk that was a gift from a friend long ago. It shows two seagulls flying and says, "They can because they think they can." Apparently a quote from Virgil.

My two for work:

“Remember what Daddy always says- an ounce of pretension is worth a pound of manure,” Shelby in Steel Magnolias (in my signature block at work)

Outside my cubicle at work: I have flying monkeys and I’m not afraid to use them.

Saw this one on a rubber stamp: "If life's a beach, where are our cabana boys?"

And I like this one, too: "Why put off till tomorrow what you can put off till the day after tomorrow."

I saw one in an antique shoppe that said "Any woman looking for a husband has never had one."

One of my favorites is "Women over 40 know how." It was a counted cross stitch pattern and the reason I learned this craft!!!

My father, a very hard working farmer, used to say "That's the way it goes, first your money, then your clothes." I never quite understood what he meant. If anyone else does, please let me know.
