Oh how I love my new cover flats

by Lorraine Bartlett / Lorna Barrett / L.L. Bartlett

I sure hope they don't stop Saturday mail delivery, because getting the mail every day is such an adventure.  I mail out bookmarks for the Cozy Chicks (keep those requests coming in!) and yesterday I got a batch of bookmarks for Leann's next release (The Cat, The Professor and the Poison--available May 4th).

Chapter&hearse_cvr  I also got cover flats for my next release:  Chapter & Hearse (which comes out August 3rd).

Way back in the mists of time, I used to belong to a Romance writers group.  One of their published authors told me that you know you've made it when you get the title embossed in gold on your cover.

Guess what I've got on my cover???

Not only that, but my NAME is embossed in gold, too--and it's bigger (albeit not by much) than the title.

Wow!

Enclosed was a lovely note from my editor's assistant.  She's a big fan of this cover and loved all the little touches -- like the da Vinci painting.  (Ah, so that's what that is!  One of my readers wanted to know who it represented in the book.  Now we know--nobody!)

I also love to read the advertising copy on the back flap of the cover flat--and this time they put my blog URL on it.  (You all read my blog as well as this one, right?  If not, why not???  You can find it here.  And don't forget to follow!)

So count me among those who wants to keep Saturday mail deliveries.  It's just one tiny bit of fun to look forward to every day.

P.S.  Happy First Day of Spring!

I love that new cover. And gold. My, you are special! We used to have a cat that looked just like that. He was always jumping up on a chair and putting his front paws in the table to join in. I'm looking forward to Chapter & Hearse!

Love, love, love the cover Lorraine. I like how the reader can get a visual of the main street, too. And of course, your NAME being so big is a huge deal, and the embossing is just icing.

Congrats!

The cover is so cute! Your editor's assistant is right - the little details are awesome!
And..I love getting the mail (not the bills, of course). I'll be sad in the future when mail days are cut down or finally eliminated!
Happy Spring to you too!

There's certainly a lot going on with this cover, and I'm so pleased everyone seems to like it. But next cover, I'm hoping to have the REAL Miss Marple on the cover. (She's not a silver tabby--she's a gray & white domestic long-haired cat.)

Oops, I sent that last comment as anonymous on accident. Anyway Lorna, it looks great and I'm sure will be a great read too. :)
