As Seen on TV

Have you seen that new commercial for the Perfect Brownie pan? It's a baking pan that looks a little bit like a maze so that every brownie has an edge. No soft gooey middle pieces with this pan.

Which is just fine by me. The chewy edges are my favorite part of a brownie. This is a product I could really think about buying, except...

Everyone else in my family doesn't like edges. To them, this pan is a giant waste of money, much like (I presume) most As Seen on TV products. Though, honestly, I'm not a fair judge. I've never bought a single As Seen on TV product, though some of them are tempting. The Ultra Smooth (buy one, get one free!) that removes unwanted hair by buffing it away? Seems so much easier than shaving, doesn't it? I can't be the only one who wishes to toss their razor forever. Yet, I have to wonder, does it really work? The OveGlove? That oven mitt seems indestructible. The Flowbee--never pay salon prices again!

And the king of all As Seens--the Snuggie. Does anyone own one? For some reason they are looking more and more cozy every time I spot one in a store and now even come in a snazzy leopard print design.

Tempting, definitely tempting. But not as tempting as that Perfect Brownie pan...Mmm brownies.

Anyone ever buy any As Seen products? Do they really work? Or a giant waste of money?

LOL. My thoughts, and sentiments, exactly. Several things I've seen on TV look very tempting, but if they do work, why don't I see them at friend's houses?

I REALLY wanted to buy one of those GT Express 101 counter-top cooker things. (I even blogged about it.) I must have watched that informercial about 40 times. (That was before digital TV took over and I still had an analog TV in my kitchen.) The only reason I didn't get one was because I was turned off by the shipping charges. They wanted more to ship it (2 actually), than the price of the product. No thanks.

I'm too cheap to pay shipping on those things. That said, when something that's caught my eye ends up at Tar*get (or other places), I get tempted. So far the only thing I've bought is that chopper thing. I think it was called the onion chopper. It's flat, you put a half an onion in it, push down, done - no tears! $15 at Tar*get and no shipping. AND, if I didn't like it, I could return it! Well, I love it and have turned many others on to it too.

I have to say, that brownie pan looks tempting. I'll have to let you know .... once I see it in a store. :)

Happy Holidays Heather. Your posts have been a bright spot for me this past year.

I bought the snuggie at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. With my 20% off coupon it came to $12 and I LOVE it. I've used it every evening since buying it.

Happy Holidays everyone!

Bought my Snuggie at Wal-Mart and I love it!! I am starting to feel like Linus from Peanuts because I take the Snuggie with me to my in-laws and parents house.

Happy Holidays....

I ahve (and LOVE) the onion chopper. Making salsa and salads is a snap. Literally.

I also bought the OveGlove for my brother-in-law and he loved it.

Some of the other rpoducts, especially the electronics, seem too good to be true.

Have a wonderful holiday season.

There is a "As Seen On TV" kiosk at the mall and sections at the local drug stores and I bought the PedEgg and it actually worked.

I've had my eyes on the Snuggie thing too.

Happy Holidays!

Mare, I agree! But after some of these comments, I might have to track down that onion chopper.

To you too, Mason! Hope you have lots of good books to read over the next couple of weeks. :)

Lorna, those shipping charges are outrageous. Have to admit, I have a George Foreman grill and love it for cooking hamburgers in the winter.

Thank you, KIY! Happy Holidays to you, too. And thanks for the tip on the chopper. I'll be on the lookout next time I'm out. Does it work on garlic, too, by any chance? Oh, and the Brownie pan is at Walgreens--saw it there the other day.

Denise, have you seen that Brookstones is now offering a "luxury" blanket, that's Snuggie copy-cat? I guess it's made out of softer fabric. And can you believe there are Snuggie copycats??? LOL.

LOL on the Linus image, Lisa. I'm always wrapped in a blanket at home. Alas, it's not a Snuggie. Happy Holidays to you, too!

Okay, Debbie, I'm sold on the chopper. I need to go to Target later, so it's now on my list. They better have it. :) Merry Christmas to you! I swear the card will be in the mail by Monday (we're SO late this year).

Dru, the Ped Egg is for softening feet, right? Hmm. Might have to look into that, too. Happy Holidays!

I'd rather have a brownie pan that cooked it with no edges at all! But I don't think that's likely to happen. I've had my eye on the Ped-egg, too, and my mom is wanting the Snuggie. Basically, though, I think most of that stuff is a waste of time and money. It's kind of become the new Fingerhut. Not worth it. Anyway, whatever's on your list, have a very Merry Christmas everybody!

If your husband would crank up the thermostat past 54 degrees, you wouldn't need the bathrobe worn in reverse.

Signlady, when I make brownies for events, I always cut the edges off (and, ahem, keep them for myself). I've actually never found someone who likes the edges other than me. Much surprise when the pan was debuted!

I looove the edges too. must be in the family :)

I bought the Pedi-egg when they started selling it at Walmart. I love that thing. I get callouses on my heels so easily that it makes it easier to take care of them.

I'll take my brownies any way I can get them--edges or middle! I am asking for an egg genie for Christmas because my sister-in-law used hers when I visited her last month--she loves hers and it works really good.
Merry Christmas to all and Happy New Year.

The Bronie pan rocks! And so do the Snuggies :-) My kids both have pink ones and although I am inclined to buy pink anything I found a Wizar of Oz one that was just so much cooler! I have also seen them in DC Comics, Alice in Wonderland and even my U of O Ducks. You need to get one if you haven't already succumbed to the temptation!

Heather Webber said...

I haven't succumbed to the Snuggie (yet) but possibly because I'm already attached to my throw blankets. Seems I'm always wrapped in one. The Wizard of Oz blanket is tempting though...

I absolutely love my brownie pan. And it's only the ones on the outside that have those edges. The inside ones are just like neatly and evenly cut brownies. It really got a workout over the holidays. Hmmm, maybe I need to make some more for just me! :-)
