Breakfast For Dinner

Last night I took my kids out to the diner for breakfast. My son gets chocolate-chip silver-dollar pancakes with a side of bacon, my daughters gets scrambled eggs, hash browns, and strawberries, and I get two eggs (sunny-side up), bacon, and bites of the kids' meals.

I remember my mother making us breakfast for dinner on nights my father was working too late to make it home for dinner. They were some of my favorite meals. Her French Toast was to die for and the thought of blueberry pancakes or crepes covered with powdered sugar and syrup just seemed like such a rule-breaker kind of dinner!

Have you had breakfast for dinner lately? What's your all-time favorite breakfast food? You know, the one you've eaten since
childhood.

I love brinner (as Scrubs has dubbed breakfast for dinner). We had pancakes and bacon just a few nights ago. I remember growing up, we only ever got pancakes for dinner when my mom was away because she didn't like them. I think my favorite breakfast food is a good omelet with ham, bacon and tomato.

My favorite breakfast still remains eggs (scrambled w/cheese or omelet w/veggies), bacon, toast or a small pancake.

We have breakfast for dinner probably once a month. French toast, home fries, bacon, sausage. It always feels like such a treat!

I love breakfast for dinner. Growing up Catholic with the no meat on Friday thing we had pancakes or french toast instead many a time. YUM!

We do this a lot. Working second shift hours messes up mealtimes anyway. One of our favorite "fix it quick" meals when getting home at 1 a.m. is Bacon, Egg, and Cheese bagels. Exactly what it sounds like, bacon, scrambled egg, and cheese on a toasted bagel. Yummy!

I had breakfast for dinner for the first time last year and it was weird. We were on the road for several hours and was near dinner time so we stopped at a diner where my friends ordered breakfast food and and made me as well. So I had fried eggs (slighltly hard yolk), side of bacon, home fries and a glass of orange juice.

I'm not much of a breakfast person, never have been, and it still drives my mom nuts! I usually wait anywhere from 2 to 4 hours after I'm up to eat anything(except for coffee!) And even then, most of the time I'd prefer something like chili, enchiladas, pizza, etc., over the "regular" breakfast food.

For holidays I used to make my "Killer" cinnamon French toast for my son. It's still his favorite dish anytime he comes to visit. My husband doesn't like anything sweet for breakfast and I like pancakes or waffles. I have never like breakfast in the evening, though. We used to do that when I was a child too but it meant that we were too poor that week to not be able to afford meat, so it was a rather depressing thing.

French toast and corned beef hash are my favorites. I often make corned beef hash and scrambled eggs with cheese for dinner.

Considering that we were really poor when I was a kid, the thing we ate for breakfast was oatmeal porridge with milk and perhaps a cup of tea. No, it's not my all-time favorite breakfast food. We NEVER had such fancy things like pancakes or french toast for breakfast. We didn't even have ordinary toast, because the white bread that is made of is too low with fibers, minerals and vitamins - we ate dark wholemeal rye bread every day of the week, and sandwiches were something to dream about. What you got on the bread was margarine, nothing else, and bread was supposed to be eaten as tummy-filling with food.
But I like brunches. What ever you like to serve. Pancakes with bacon and maple syrup sounds good.
