Truly giddy.

It's this time of the year.

No, not summer (though I love it, too).

School supply shopping!!!!!!!

And no, I'm actually not looking forward to sending the kids back to school in two weeks, it's the school supplies I love. The binders, the notebooks, the pens, the pencils... Glee!

The office supply store is one of my favorites. I could spend a good hour in there, roaming aisles, wondering if I really need colored thumbtacks and pastel Post-It Notes (of course I do!). Mostly, what gets to me is the notebooks and the pens. (Insert happy chorus).

Every book I write has its own notebook. I jot notes, loosely outline, and often doodle in the margins while trying to make sense of complicated plots (I'm a certified plotaholic). I'm always picking up new notebooks in hopes that the stories will come (buy it and they will come?) Usually (happily), they do. And the little tiny notepads, purse size? Love them, too!

I could go on and on about my love of pens. These days I'm in love with the Pilot G-2 gel pens. I'll resist going back to ball point (though I do like the plain old Blue Bics).

So, okay, I may have bought a thing or two (or six) for me while I took my daughter shopping, but I'll try to restrain myself when I take my son shopping... Oh, who am I kidding? You know I'll be picking up another notebook. Or pen. Or binder (I'm sure I'll need it for something!).

Anyone else have a thing for office supplies? Maybe we can start a support group. Or, even better, become shopping buddies. :)
