A New Year of Promises and Hope

by Deb Baker

Tomorrow is my favorite day of the year. Really, it is. I start every new year, whether I had a wonderful past year or one that almost did me in, with a breath of freshness. Can’t you feel the crispness? (I’m in the Midwest. Of course, I can). And resolutions. You bet I have them. Always. Here’s the short list:

1. Improve my marriage. We became empty nesters last September and realized how much we had drifted apart. The cool thing is we both want our marriage to work. More on our plan in a future blog.

2. Write the best book I’ve ever written. To find out what I’m writing (it’s something brand new), tune in next week when each of the Chicks will give away a special present in celebration of our new blog design and the incoming year. You have a chance to win every single day. I’m giving away something that ties in to my new series.

3. Give back. Until this year, I’ve been scrambling to write two books every year. That and the incredible amount of required promotion left little energy to make a contribution to others. So..this year I’m teaching craft/marketing at writing conferences in Wisconsin and Michigan and who knows where else.

Whew. That seems like a lot. And that’s only the short list. I didn’t even mention diet and exercise.

How about you? What are your promises and/or hopes for 2009?
