I hope everyone is having a happy holiday season. My daughter, Serena, and I had a great time with daughter Melissa in Manhattan for Christmas. Now, we're back in Colorado enjoying bright sunshine and sometimes cold, sometimes warmer temps. Serena leaves Dec 30th. I can't believe it will be time for another New Year to begin. 2009. Wow.
Kate's post about holiday movies reminded me about our family's favorites. We've accumulated quite a few faves over the years. The girls have purchased some on DVD and bring them for Christmas, or get them on NetFlix. Some of our favorities: IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, of course. We just love that movie and all those familiar performances by those wonderful actors. We can quote the dialogue.
Another favorite is HOLIDAY INN with Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire. Would you believe that was filmed in 1942! WWII was still going on. Wow. That was the movie which debued the song "White Christmas." Of course, weve always loved those cute musical numbers. But the showstoppers are still Fred Astaires dancing. That July 4th dance routine he does with the fire crackers is still great to watch. He was fantastic.
Of course, we also love The Grinch, and Frosty, and Rudolf and Charle Brown Christmas. We saw that the first night we were together. Chtristmas Story is another fun favorite. Didn't see it this year, but as we walked in Manhattan on Houston Street heading toward Union Square on Christmas Eve day, darned if we didn't look up to an apartment window above and see "the lamp" enrhrined in all it's glory in the window. That's right. The "Leg" lamp. Complte with lampshade and light. We laughed and laughed.
Now that Serena and I are back home in Colorado, we've been seeing some new flicks in theatres. More on that next week.
And don't forget, folks----The Cozy Chicks start the "re-launch" of our blog on blogspot next week. Make sure you bookmark the new site and visit. Meanwhiel, have a safe and happy New Year's Eve.
