    Conference Travel

    Maggie Sefton Icon

Hey, folks.  I’m presently in sunny and very warm (80’s) Florida.  Fort Lauderdale, to be exact, at the mystery conference Sleuthfest.  I’m here with fellow Berkley Prime Crime mystery author, Deb Baker.  Right now, I’m sitting around the pool (in the sade) checking email before the next workshop.  I know—-hardship duty.

After this conference and we return home, Deb flies right back to Denver, OO, and joins me at another mystery conference Left Coast Crime.  Again, we’re each doing panels and signing books and networking with other writers and booksellers.

So—this week’s post is short and sweet, and you just read it.  I’ll provide details and anecdotes on next week’s blog post.  Until then, folks.  Enjoy.  And keep reading.  Ohhhh, and for what it’s worth, I’ve already fallen off the diet Straight and Narrow.  I’m in the land of mohitos and Cuban food.  Yum.  I’m not even going to worry about it.  .

    1. I’m presently in sunny and very warm (80’s) Florida.

And I’m trying to decide whether or not to take a snow day. We have sleet and icy roads and more snow to come.

      I hate winter…..

    3. Good for you! Have a fantastic time in Florida.

    4. As for breaking the diet… I broke my Lenten resolution once already this week. Shock horror. But at least if you are in a great place you should be able to take advantage of it, I suppose.

    5. Have a great time Maggie! Enjoy the conference, the weather, and the food!

    6. Maggie, if you ever get to Savannah, forget about Paula Dean. You need to try Kevin Barry’s Irish Pub on River Street. It’s right on the water, and has the BEST soda bread I’ve tasted (outside of mine of course)

By the way, I’m not Maggie, I’m Marissa, my fingers ran away from me again

    8. Mmmmm, Cuban food & mojitos—what’s not to like?! I’d be breaking the diet, too, Maggie!

It snowed here in East Texas on Monday night; now it’s raining, temps are dropping and we’re in for more snow tonight and tomorrow. Sigh….

Have a great time in Florida!

    9. Marissa, as I was reading that post, I wondered who the “other” Maggie was! Too funny, LOL. I bookmarked your blog to read later, when I can procrastinate a bit longer! ;)

    10. Hey, folks—thanks for all the good wishes. I got back from Sleuthfest late Tuesday night with a really nasty flu virus. Must have picked it up in FC or on plane Thursday before bec it started on Sat. By Sunday I was coughing. Yuck. double yuck.

I lay arond all day yesterday, Wednesday, at home still feverish and sick hoping to recuperate a little because today, Thursday, I had to “suit up” and go on the road again to Denver to Left Coast Crime. I’ve got a panel Sat. and other stuff tomorrow Friday.

So right now—I’m back in the hotel room taking it easy this asternoon and tonight. I’ll go downstairs and grab some quick dinner. And I’ve got company. My dear friend and traveling buddy, Deb Baker, has now got it too. I feel so bad. I contaminated her!
