Tacked to Death
Today I’m going to do some blatant promotion because selling books is something I think all writers like to do. We love to write them, but then we have to get them into the hands of the readers and pray they love the book as much as we loved writing it.
So, here goes–my third horse lover’s mystery TACKED TO DEATH is out tomorrow! For those of you who have not read this series and are scared off by the idea that you don’t like horses, I promise you it’s not just about horses. There is plenty of murder, mayhem and mystery. There’s also a little romance. Granted I think it’s more subtle than what goes on between Nikki, Derek and Andres in the wine lover’s mysteries, but it’s there.
Michaela Bancroft is my heroine and although in the first book SADDLED WITH TROUBLE she was a bit of a reluctant sleuth, in this third installment she has no choice but to jump in and figure the crime out because she is a prime suspect.
Here is the back cover copy:
A new tack shop and gala polo match are reasons to celebrate for horse trainer Michaela Bancroft–until equestrian Sterling Tabor is found clubbed to death with a polo mallet. Worse yet, suspicion falls on Michaela…
The weapon belongs to Michaela, her prints are all over it, and rumors of her alleged affair with the victim aren’t helping. With her boyfriend, Detective Jude Davis, out of town, Michaela doesn’t stand a chance of proving her innocence and clearing her name unless she delves into Tabor’s mysterious life–and death–on her own. But in unearthing a real suspect and motive, she discovers a deadly secret. And Tabor’s shady friends are more than willing to throw Michaela off the polo grounds–for good.
This was a fun book to write, although I can say the research made me a bit sore. I actually took a polo lesson. I’ve been riding since I was about five, but I have never ridden polo, and let me just say–It is not easy! I used muscles I didn’t know existed. It’s tough stuff going at full speed with mallets and balls flying in the air, but it was definitely fun and the polo ponies are awesome horses.
If you want to learn more about my adventure at the polo grounds check out my site this week. I’m updating the “In the Stable,” section, or sign up for my newsletter at www.michelescott.com. You can also read the first chapter of TACKED TO DEATH there.
Thank You! Hope you all have a happy week.
Cheers,
Michele
