    Holiday Travels–Northern Virginia

    Maggie Sefton Icon

I am on vacation.  Yea!!!  I dropped my December 15-due date manuscript into expressmail on Friday, December 14, and then I left town Saturday morning, December 15th.  I’m here in Fairfax, Virginia (northern Virginia outside Washington, DC) enjoying family and holiday preparations.  Yesterday, I took my granddaughter to a favorite area knitting shop, Uniquities, in Vienna, VA.  She wanted to try knitting again.  I’d taught her two years ago, and together we made a cute scarf from one of those little fuzzy eyelash yarns.  This time, she chose a soft colorful ball of scrunchy yarn.  In order to fully understand the terem “scrunchy,” you really have to visit a yarn shop and start touching every yarn in sight.

Today, I’m hanging with my oldest daughter, Christine, and new baby granddaughter, Ana-Sofia, as we hit the shopping centers and the malls—shopping.  Hey, I haven’t been in the stores since right after Thanksgiving.  This will be fun helping her shop.

I’ve having a great time because I’m totally in relax mode.  We all need to “reward” ourselves when we’ve been working very, very hard.  Do something relaxing or nurturing or wild-and-crazy—whatever.  We need to Relax.  And Enjoy.

    Enjoy, folks!

    3. Travel safe, Maggie! I hope you have wonderful holidays with your family.

    4. Thanks, guys. I’ve had a frantic (like usual) week with family here, but it was actually “relaxing” because it wasn’t my regular routine. Tomorrow morning, Saturday, I’m flying out of WashDC Dulles to New York City (JFK) to spend thru Christmas with daughter Melissa. I’m really looking forward to that. Just Melissa and me enjoying the city. We do enjoy the city. Cafes, martinis, jazz, shopping, whatever. And in Christmas, the City is a gift in itself. It’s so much fun wandering about, enjoying.

However, I imagine the airport will be a nightmare tomorrow morning. Busiest travel day of the year, news said (I think).

    5. Hi Maggie,
Speaking of Christmas, I got your second and third books for Christmas - just finished the second one. Loved it! I happened across your first knitting novel in Philadelphia in February while looking for something to read on the plane home to Calgary. Juts wanted to say that I enjoy your books and will be eagerly watching for the others as they come out. And in going to The Cozy Chicks link I think I’ve found some more writers to investigate.
Happy New Year! I’m off to read book #3….keep writing!

    6. Tina—-Thank you for that great post-holiday pick-me-up! I’m so glad you’re enjoying the Kelly Flynn mysteries. I’m having such fun writing those characters. They crack me up sometimes.

      A KILLER STITCH

by Maggie on December 27th, 2007 at 5:00 pm

    7. Tina—message got interrupted. I hate it when laptops are SO sensitive they send email when your fingernail slips off key. sheeesh. Anyhoo—-#4 is Killer Stitch and came out last May. Next in series will be out June 2008–DYER CONSEQUENCES. Look out in that one. There’s an in-your-face threat to Kelly. The killer wants Kelly dead too. (heh heh heh) Evil author laugh. Enjoy!
