The big Premier Week has come and gone (with a few shows debuting next week) and I was lucky to have been able to catch three of the new shows. I also saw the opener of the next season of Heroes and enjoyed it immensely. I also saw Chuck, which I found compelling mainly due to the charming, cute, and quirky main character. I did not fall in love with the Bionic Woman and I will definitely tune in next week for the second episode of Journeyman.
Of course, I watched Deal or No Deal, as I am a game show junkie and I wouldn’t dream of missing Friday Night Lights – premiering on Friday, October 5 – as it is one of the best-acted shows on television (even if you don’t like football).
Recently, my husband forced me to watch the first two seasons of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. I resisted, believing that the kind of irreverent humor presented in the commercials for the show wasn’t to my taste, but the show is actually really, really funny. Danny DeVito is an absolute hoot.
My question is this: have I missed a gem? Is there a new show or one that has been running for a season or two that I should be turning on?
(Can you tell that I have a Jan 1st deadline and am following some of Heather’s procrastination techniques?

I saw a series premier last night — MOONLIGHT (or maybe MOONLIGHTING). It was about a vampire PI, which is so OLD at this point. Wasn’t that already done with ANGEL and the Canadian one…and let’s not forget the old Rick Springfield TV movie/premier that I don’t think made it to a series. This was so tired and reworked.
Tepid, I thought. Not even body temperature.
And that was followed by NUMBERS, which is a show I cannot get into, despite several tries. I tried again last night after all the hoopla about the director and the special appearances and the blah, blah, blah.
Boring. Just as boring as my remembered geometry classes.
I did see a show…not a new show, I guess, but new to me. The Tina Fey show? It’s called something else, of course, but anyway, my sister (the one who serves as my own personal What Not to Wear consultant — and Good God Your Hair! advisor) rented the DVDs on Netflix and brought it to my laptop deprived attention. It’s SO funny! I love it.
And I NEVER under any circumstances watch comedy or sitcoms. So how odd is that?

I’m addicted to “Dancing With The Stars” but have to tell Wayne Newton to go back to Vegas. Sorry WN fans, the guy can’t dance.
I’m so excited for Grey’s Anatomy, CSI and the GA spin-off featuring Addison Montgomery. Can’t think of the name but I liked the premier.
I, too, can’t get into Numbers. I think it’s cause I’m allergic to math.
Lately I lean towards the Discovery Channel. Gotta Love Mike Rowe on Dirty Jobs. mmmmmmmm…………

Personally, I can’t think of any JB. My husband is a HUGE fan of Jericho, but won’t be back till after the New Year (so not a viable procrastination option). The series is oooollldd, but I recently watched some of Six Feet Under and really enjoyed it. Now I need to rent some of the other seasons of it.

Debbie,
Oh, I’m so glad you mentioned Dirty Jobs. I love that show. When is it on?

Heather,
I heard the extended Jericho another season simply because so many fans wrote the network when they heard it was scheduled to be nixed. I think that’s really cool.

I enjoyed Cane with Jimmy Smits. This show has some possibilites, for both me and my husband who do not usually agree on shows.

I have really turned into a TV Junkie, I can’t ever remember watching this much tv even as a Kid. Definitely check out Cane, Dirty Sexy Money, Big Shots, and Private Practice and if you don’t already watch Ugly Betty and Greys Anatomy than shame on you…lol

My summer discovery was DAMAGES. And I can’t say enough good things about this riveting mystery. Performances are better than anything I’m seeing on regular tv. Glenn Close, Ted Danson as a marvelous villain, and some new fresh faces. And one of the most intricate compelling murder mysteries I’ve seen in quite a while. I’ve got my theories as to whodunit, but the writers are so good that every week new info is introduced and we get to see more and more of that exciting and dramatic flashback that started off the series—and got our heroine in trouble. It’s on cable tv—fX network. There’s a website too that people can learn/see previous episodes.
Somehow I missed hearing about MOONLIGHT. I’ll give it a try. We’ve got a couple mystery authors here in Colorado who write vampire stuff. Oh, darn! I missed Dirty Sexy Money. Love Donald Sutherland, so I want to see it. I did tape CANE and will see it tonight. Actually the PBS series WAR grabbed me a couple of times. All personal stories layered thru the historical film footage.
I’m waiting to see what the LOST writers come up with. They left with some great endings—and teasers about future events. And I’m also wondering if “24″ will have energy to keep me interested this next season. Apparently Jack will have to go into China to rescue Audrey.
