    In absentia

    Karen MacInerney Icon

I may be adrift on an iceberg right now — who knows? But I’m decidedly not in Austin. Hopefully I have not been devoured by a bear, attacked by a moose, or thrown overboard by an irate family member.

Barring disaster, however, I will be back next week. Which will be cruel, really — from Alaska in August to Texas in August in less than 24 hours.

Hope you’re having a great week. Any fun (read: disastrous) travel stories you’d like to share?

    1. Really, you don’t want to hear them. I promise. 40 hours, most of which was spent on a plane on the tarmac at Kennedy airport. Having to get off our train onto the track so we could get on one that would move. In fact, travel (especially any time you get my mother involved, since she has the worst travel karma of anyone I’ve ever met, having been in airplanes struck by lightning…twice!) is always so interesting that there’s a whole category on my personal blog devoted to “Travels with Laura” (http://imho.blogs.com/imho/travels_with_laura/index.html).

    3. I just came back from Dallas. I thought New England was HOT!! We’ve got nothin’ on you.

No disasters to report. But I will say that every single person I came across in Texas was beyond gracious. We had a ball!

    4. Hey Miss Alaska, Grace and I are visiting friends in Dallas and I got heat exhaustion. I’ve never been so sick in my life, but the good news is that I’ve discovered hip bones I haven’t seen in ten years. XO, Melissa PS Heat Exhaustion involves a lot of barfing…..
