    I’m Glad

    Maggie Sefton Icon

Boy, I’ve never been so happy to be wrong before.  Even though I haven’t read The Book yet, I’ve seen several interviews with the author, so the “big question” has been answered.  A huge sigh of relief and a wonderful feeling.   Thank you, Author Extraordinaire.

For those of you who don’t have the foggiest idea of what I’m talking about, I apologize.  I deliberately chose to be evasive in this post so I wouldn’t spoil anyone’s enjoyment.  If you’re curious, check out my post of two weeks ago (three weeks ago???) called “Movietime.”  I discussed particular movies and one book in particular and several of you joined in with wonderful insights and responses.  Thank you, again, for sharing.

And—-you were right.   And I’m very, very glad I was wrong.

Meanwhile, I had a mini-marathon of movies this weekend.  A friend and I watched the last two movies in the series again before heading to the cineplex to watch the fifth in the series.  Ohhhhh, and what a wonderful movie it is.  They’ve captured the characterization as well as the heart-stopping danger.   A marvelous job.

Congratulations to JK Rowling.   A masterful storyteller who has brought such joy to us all.   Thank you.

    1. Maggie,
Even though you know the answer to the big question, you will enjoy the book. So many things happen, so many things are explained, and the last several chapters are so exciting!

    2. Sorry Maggie, but I didn’t enjoy the 5th movie as much as the first 4. Don’t get me wrong, I liked it, but was not overly thrilled.

I have since jumped on the HP bandwagon and started reading. Book one: 2 days. I’m half way through #2 and itching to get to #3.

      Yup, addictive.

Great stories, great characters (gotta love Hagrid) and SO much fun.

Heading to Dallas tomorrow (thanks for the bug story ..*ick*) and heading to the library now for my travel companion. Harry will stay home cause those hard covers are heavy!

    3. Don’t worry, Linda, I’ll get to it.

And Debbie—I agree—hardcovers are way to heavy. I take paperback or trade paper while traveling.

    4. I was really happy with the book as a whole. I’ll be looking forward to the movie too, but I’ve got to agree with Debbie. I didn’t really like the 5 th movie much. Still, I congratulate JK Rolwing and can’t wait to see what her next project will be!

    5. Debbie & JB—I’m curious. What didn’t you like about the 5th movie? Given, of course, that movies can never have the same depth as the books themselves.

    6. Hi Maggie,

I totally liked the movie. I know that they can’t put in all of the information from such a long book into the movie. The books to me are the real “Harry Potter” deal, and the movies are like an added little extra to the book itself. I see them as a way to visualize the world of Harry Potter….the characters, what the outside and inside of the school looks like, what the creatures look like, etc. Kind of like the movies are the hot fudge on top of my scoops of yummy peanut butter -n-chocolate ice cream.

    7. Hear, hear. Long live Harry Potter!
