And five things we never knew about you.
I’m still in Ireland at the time of this posting, so I thought I’d do a quickie, just-for-fun blog. You can play along or not, it’s up to you, but we’re all friends here, and getting to know you all is part of the fun.
So…five things you never knew about me:
1) My sister called me “Sassy” for the first three years of her life. Sassy was also the name of our cat.
2) The first novel I published was a Harlequin romance — right out of college. It was called Love’s Good Fortune. I used the pen name Louise Harris.
3) My favorite cartoon show growing up was Felix the Cat. Oh, and I had a HUGE crush on Astroboy. What a hottie!
4) My worst subject in school was math, and I still get panicky about my multiplication tables.
5) My husband does 99.9% of the cooking in our house — however I do breakfasts on the weekend. And rather well, may I add.
Okay, so how about you? Tell us five things about yourself that we don’t know.
-
1. I, too, hate math. It freaks me out. So much so that I still don’t know how to balance my checkbook.
2. I am addicted to the shows Deadliest Catch, Dog the Bounty Hunter and Dirty Jobs.
3. I’m afraid of heights.
4. I do NOT wear a size 6.
5. I love cotton candy, pez and pixie stix (but don’t eat them….see#4).
I hope you are enjoying your trip!

One more thing…..
I once hit my mother in law’s cat with a horseshoe and to this day, will not play the game.
Dang the guilt……..

1) I used to be blonde and blue-eyed when I was little.
2) I once bought a dog for fifty cents.
3) In tenth grade I flunked a paper on Beowulf.
4) I despise the sound of finger snapping.
5) I once got trapped in a cave on Mt. Charleston.

1) Even though we look a lot alike, all three of my kids are adopted . . . go figure.
2) My husband does all of the grocery shopping and we usually work together on the cooking.
3) I am always early for everything — work, church, school.
4) I enjoy working on knitting, scrapbooking and stamping (and have the stashes to prove it).
5) I have worked 35 years at the same job (34 years for the same man - who is retiring this year), been married 27 years, lived in the same house 26 years. I despise change.

1. I broke into an abandoned house when I was a little girl and later found out it was the beach house of the wealthy Vanderbuilt family. Whoops. I think I stole a vase from there too.
2. I was taken to the emergency room for more broken bones, stitches, and other such repairs so much as a kid that the doctors began to call me by name when I got there.
3. Once, I had such an incredibly powerful tantrum that my mom thought I was epileptic. When the doctor up the street told her I was throwing a fit, she said I should become an actress. Missed that one, I’m afraid.
4. I can hold my right index finger over a candle flame and feel nothing after piercing the nerve with a wood knife (see #2)
5. I went to a fortune teller in NYV who told me that my future husband’s name would contain the letters T and M. My husband’s name is Tim.

Five huh? Hmm…
1. I’m a Lingo junkie.
2. At one time, I ran 3 fan clubs at once.
3. I took a sign language course after high school and taught a woman in the nursing home I volunteered at how to sign some words after she had a stroke. (Tried to get the staff to learn too, but they showed no interest until the inspectors were due for a visit. Then suddenly they were asking me to give them the sheets with the signs on that they “misplaced”)
4. I was a DJ for two weeks at a local radio station (Technically two days because it was only on Saturdays).
5. Davy Jones of The Monkees used to live an hour from my house (He still might live there part time, I’m not sure) and I was accidentally invited there for a party once by his then best friend (Strange story), but it was the last minute and I couldn’t go. Have been kicking myself ever since.
Ok…I can probably come up with more, but you asked for five.

1) I have a 650 pound cement cow in my back yard.
2) I was once asked out on a date by the actor, Mark Harmon, in front of a room of people and turned him down because I was on a first date with a guy that night who then took me straight home afterwards because he was mad about the Mark Harmon thing. Never saw either of them again.
3) Sang with a big band orchestra when I was 23 and they were in their 50’s (I thought they were near death)…I’m 50 now.
4) When I’m stressed I like to eat cereal and m & ms. Separately.
5) Can get completely drunk on about 1/4 cup of any alcoholic beverage; consequently almost never drink. This had nothing to do with #2 on the list but it does cause me to laugh really loud and sing Italian operas.

Here goes…
1. I was brought up right-handed although I should have been brought up left handed. As nobody else in my family is left handed it never occurred to them (nor to me, as it happened!) that I would be anything different. I only found this out as an adult…
2. Even though I love art, I cannot draw to save my life.
3. I was once arrested for smuggling material about the persecuted church out of one of the former communist countries. I was also ‘questioned’ about this, which was not so enjoyable.
4. I find it very difficult to keep a straight face…
5. Ages ago (so OK, 23 years ago!) I taught music to 4 yr old children. I used to have to sit on the floor with them, as I was 6ft tall, and they were somewhat smaller than I was…
