    Off to Malice!

    Karen MacInerney Icon

So, here it is, 10:48 on a Thursday night.  My bags are packed (I barely unpacked from RT last week), I’m checking my e-mail…. and suddenly I realize it’s Thursday.

    My Cozy Chicks day!

Unfortunately, this realization hit me exactly 7 hours before I have to wake up.  (Early flight to D.C.)  So I’m just going to say a quick howdy for now, and promise to have lots of juicy tidbits and photos next week… or, if I’m feeling particularly motivated, even earlier, on Poisoned Pen Letters.

I hope to see lots of you there — I know I’ll see the Chicks.  But for now, I’m off to bed, lest I oversleep tomorrow…

    1. Hi!

I just finished the book ‘cross bones’ by Kathy Reichs. One thing that really stood out to me in her books, was that you could clearly pick up on each of the characters personality from the way their dialogue was written. How hard is it to pick and stay in character throughout the story? If you have a character with a dialect, how do you research that in order to get the sentences right? (I am writing a story in which the main characters are from Cornwall, but since I don’t know anyone from there, or have the means to visit, I guess I will have to hire a voice talent that will help me with the dialect.)

    2. Thea,

Dialect-wise, sometimes it helps to read books written in that dialect. Find one set in Cornwall; and remember, sometimes less is more. :)

That’s a toughie. Let me know how it goes!
